Our grants aim to direct funds to areas of the UK environmental landscape that are currently underfunded and under-resourced. At Elgol Fund for Nature we want to collaborate with those doing the most significant work in UK conservation no matter the size or longevity of the project or organisation. To provide funding that covers a range of projects in need of long-term and rapid funding, we offer two very different grants.
Multi-year Grant
- This grant is structured to create long term partnership and enduring impact
- Duration: From 3-5 years
- Size: Up to £100,000 a year
- Application process: Identified through in-house research
Rapid Grant
- This grant is aimed at projects that require rapid funding
- Duration: Single grant, typically 1-2 years
- Size: Up to £50,000
- Application process: Open, through website
We are currently only accepting Rapid Grant applications submitted through our website. Multi-Year Grant partners are identified through in-depth in-house research and are not selected via an open application process.

Grant Structure
Through both grant types we seek to fund world class biodiversity and nature conservation activity and research, new or existing work and new or existing people with expertise and capacity. As the aim of Elgol Fund for Nature is to fund activity, we will not typically look to acquire and own assets such as land or property.
We emphasise the importance of rigorous monitoring of conservation outcomes in both types of grant, ensuring accountability and data-driven action with reference to initial expectations and benchmarks. The nature of our grants is neither restricted or unrestricted. Elgol Fund for Nature recognises the fixed cost burden of the conservation sector so will normally contribute to overhead as part of each grant.
